Approximately a month ago, I revived a pair of the Adidas PureBOOST X in the mail for their launch. The Adidas PureBOOST X has been created for women, by women resulting in a high performance meets high fashion running shoe for ladies only. The petite, adaptive silhouette of PureBOOST X wraps the foot in style and rests it on a full length bed of thousands of energy infused BOOST foam capsules. Ladies’ feet tends to be on the narrower side in the heel and arch while wider at the ball than a man’s foot.
The Specs (from Adidas)
- For a neutral gait
- 25.5 mm / 16.5 mm (9 mm differential) drop
- Floating Arches
- 6.5 ounces
My Thoughts
The second I slipped the Adidas PureBOOST X on, I immediately felt the arch support. It was mind blowing! The floating arch hugs the arches on my foot, providing it with support while the whole shoe felt like sliding into a sock.
In the following photo, you can see how unlike other running shoes, the tongue of the shoe is pretty much built into the shoe so it cannot wiggle around while you run if you did not lace your shoe tight enough. It’s really does feel like you’re sliding into a pair of socks.

The shoe is very lightweight and flexible. You can squeeze and fold them and they’ll bounce back to it’s original form. They are undeniably gorgeous and I actually considered not running in them just so I can keep them looking pretty!
One thing I didn’t like about the Adidas PureBOOST X were the eyelets. There’s only three on each side while other running shoes average around 6 on each side.
I tend to use all the eyelets in a shoe with the high lock lace locking technique to reduce slippage of my feet from the shoes and to strap me in. While the PureBOOST X fits snug, I’m not comfortable allowing any pronation as it’s something I struggle with while running.
Another concern I have is the floating arch. While I absolutely love the support it provides, I’m not sure how well it’ll hold up over time. However, it might be a good indicator of when you need to replace your shoes and that its mileage is up.
Overall, I really enjoyed the Adidas PureBOOST X. I appreciated how lightweight it was, how gorgeous it looked, the way it fits my narrow feet, and the floating arch.

*note I have collapsed/fallen arches so the floating arch may feel different on myself vs you.

It looks like a good solid shoe. Would be fun to try. I like the tongue feature for sure.
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets
The shoes are super cute and look very lightweight. I used to wear Adidas Glide Boosts and loved them…I’ve been wondering if I should head back to Adidas. Nice review!
Jen @ Pretty Little Grub
That floating arch is weird! I need to look into this lacing method you speak of, that might help me with pronation.
Ivanna
I have been seeing these around the web lately they look really great and comfy. I love the colors and laces also. Thanks for the review.
Marcia
I have tried this shoe and I love it. It’s definitely very sock-like! It has become a favorite for speedwork.
josephine
these look pretty cool, the floating arch is odd but i could see how it might be great for telling if a shoe is done
Deborah @ Confessions of a mother runner
Wow those look kind of cool! I also need a really supportive arch. I am always afraid to switch to a different brand of shoe. Interested to see how they hold up for you!
Carmy
Oh I am the same! I get very attached to the shoes I train in!
Kathryn @ Dancing to Running
That’s odd that there’s only 3 eyelets on each side of the shoe. You’d think that more eyelets would help give the shoe a more personalized fit.
Carmy
I wish there were more eyelets!
Nicole @ Fitful Focus
I currently run in Adidas Boost 2.0s and love them. I’d love to give these ones a try!
Jenn
Very cool. I have been wondering how these fit – I can’t wear them because I am an over-pronator, but the floating arch concept is incredibly intriguing. Adidas puts out a very unique shoe, and I am always very interested to see where they go next.
Carmy
For sure! I’m quite sad these can’t become a regular for me because of the pronation.
Kate @KateMovingForward
Interesting! I’ve never run in Adidas shoes, but I love the look of them!
Carmy
They’re SO pretty.
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home
Really nice looking running shoes. But what about the way the toe curls up? Did you notice anything with your toes when you ran?
Carmy
hmmmm I don’t think I really felt the curl. It literally feels like putting on a snug sock when I wear them and it’s quite flexible.
RFC
These are really cool looking! The sole almost reminds me of Hokas. Sadly, I max out at 6 mm heel drop, so 9mm would be too much for me. Thank you for the review!
Carmy
ooooh! I’ll have to check out Hokas. I still haven’t found the *perfect* heel drop range for me yet
Julia @ Lord Still Loves Me
These shoes are so cute! I’m not a hardcore runner by any means so all of the arch talk was kind of lost on me, but I still loved reading your intricate review. Thank you for sharing :)
Carmy
Thanks! I think I’d be using it for everyday shoes just because they are so darn cute
Jessa
I love these shoes. At first I thought cause my legs to hurt after a run, but they are amazing. And so lightweight. I have the pink and blue ones and they are so cute!
Carmy
They are the cutest aren’t they?!
